Late Spring is an evidence of deep longing for that world that will never be manifested from the painting, from the Art itself! It is the main motif within Maxim’s recent series of oil pastel studies on black paper. The intimate depiction of two men kissing within a Mediterranean landscape is both a personal refuge and a considered response to global political anxieties. While acknowledging the charged context surrounding LGBTQ+ representation, the painting prioritizes tenderness and connection, offering a quiet counterpoint to dominant narratives of conflict and repression.
